Hello there everyone! So I ran a Pathfinder game for the KDU game dev students during the practice session for their Board Game session event. We had a merry adventure where the players spent more time trying to swindle a horse merchant for a carriage than they did actual adventuring but in the end they did complete the quest I gave them, so it was all good.
Lirriane the Gunslinger - Played Nivlac Cheong
Seelah the Paladin - Played Mohamad Amir Bin Saad
Hayato the Samurai - Played by Tyran To Yu Wen
Harsk the Ranger - Played by Sebastian Khoo
GM - Razzman Khaliff
We begin our adventure with 4 heroes looking for a job in the City of Saltspire and after sifting through the city's notice board they find a promising job being offered by someone called Lord Shinjo who lived in the noble's district. Wasting no time to meet with their new employer they find out that Lord Shinjo is looking for a missing shipment which was supposed to be sent to him about a week ago. Lord Shinjo then tells of a particular sword that was of interest to him and that he would be willing to pay for it's safe return.

Using the Paladin's detect evil as well as the Samurai's sense motive the party attempted to determine if Lord Shinjo was on the up and up. To no surprise they found that he was neither lying nor was evil but after some probing they were able to get Lord Shinjo to confess that the heirloom he was looking for was a katana that belonged to his brother. He then explains that his in order to regain his family's honor in the court of the Jade Empire he must find his brother's sword. The sword was lost when Shinjo's brother was defeated in an Iaijutsu duel against a rival samurai. The sword's location became sketchy after that and Lord Shinjo had to send his agents to find it. When it was finally found he ordered for the sword to be transported to him via a caravan, unfortunately the caravan was waylaid by bandits along the way and thus he has commissioned our heroes to find his brother's sword so that his family may regain their honor.
Convinced by Lord Shinjo's tale the party accepted the mission and proceeded to leave. Shinjo also told them that he had a contact in the village of Stillwater who was supposed to report of the caravan arrival and that he would be able to point the party in the right direction. However the village was 3 days away by foot and our heroes did not relish the prospects of footing it the entire way there and so decided that their first order of business was to procure a ride there.
At first all 4 of them attempted to ride the Samurai's camel all at once but the poor beast made sluggish progress to say the least, fortunately a promoter for "Saddlebags' Equestrian Emporium" was nearby to point them in the direction of the best horse merchant around. Heading there they meet the owner of the Emporium who was a half-orc named Gurgthak Saddlebags who proceeded to show the party his menagerie of beasts of burden.

However, once again suspicious of everyone they meet the party employed the familiar tactic of detecting evil and sense motive which once again yielded no alarming results. Now that they able to discuss business the party explained that they needed a carriage but were unfortunately short of coin to afford one.
To this end they created an elaborate ruse to convince Saddlebags that their camel was a "super camel" capable of carrying 4 men. At first Saddlebags declined but after some superior convincing skills from our Paladin Seelah they were able to get Saddlebags to allow a trade-in of their camel for one of his carriages. However, realizing that they then had no steeds to pull the damned thing they told saddlebags that they would scout out other markets to find a better deal. A visibly distraught Saddlebags then proceeded to mope around in a corner, disappointed that the "super camel" was out of his grasp.
It was at this point that the party decided to split up, with the Gunslinger deciding to get a drink in a tavern and the paladin who was curious to partake in local vegan delicacies proceeded to visit stalls in the market district while the the rest of the party went to see if another merchant was able to provide mounts that were more up their price range.
Lirriane the Gunslinger came across a peculiar scene in the tavern where a mysterious hooded man was observing a group of 3 halflings. When asked about his business the stranger merely brushed off Lirriane exclaiming that he was on important business and wished not to be disturbed. Observing the halflings Lirriane saw that one of the halflings was wearing a necklace with a ring attached to it was visibly in daze compared to his more jovial companions who were excited about the large tankards of ale they just purchased. However, she realized that this was way more trouble than it was worth decided to leave quietly after finishing her drink.

Meanwhile Seelah the Paladin who due to her vows adhered to a strict vegan diet and refused to partake in the usual fare prevalent in the street stalls of Saltspire's market district. Fortunately in a quiet corner she spotted a stall selling vegan burgers which delighted the follower of light and righteousness greatly.
Needing to find a more affordable ride for their journey to Stillwater our heroes find another horse emporium called "Al's Horse Shack" which was a far dingier and dilapidated establishment than Saddlebags' emporium. While Old Al the owner did indeed have a carriage it was far too banged up and worn to survive the journey to Stillwater. Realizing that Saddlebags was indeed the better choice the party regrouped to meet with the half-orcish merchant.
Once again at "Saddlebags' Equestrian Emporium" our heroes confronted Saddlebags requesting for a better deal and Saddlebags who at this point was so consumed by the idea of owning a "super camel" that he finally gave the party a good deal of a carriage along with two horses in exchange for their "super camel" and 30 gold. With their ride all settled our party are finally able to set off on their adventure!

Taking only a day and half to reach Stillwater our heroes arrive around the afternoon with a few hours before sundown. Once there after taking a short respite at the local tavern they go to meet Lord Shinjo's contact, a man by the name of Ralph. As it turns out Ralph was sheep herder like most of the villagers in Stillwater and upon meeting him, he tells them a large group of bandits have made their homes somewhere deep in the forests nearby. Ralph also tells them that the caravan must be some distance away from the western exit of the village as caravans usually come from that direction to the village before arriving in Stillwater. Harsk the Dwarven Ranger used his tracking abilities to track the caravan based upon tracks of other caravans that have travelled the road and it is not long before they find the remnants of the carriage which was wrecked and riddled with arrows, unfortunately all the guards and occupants were killed.
By the time they reached the caravan it was already late evening and the sun was beginning to set, they would have begin the search for the bandit tomorrow and set up camp somewhere along the road to rest. Lirriane decided to take first watch and at one point he saw the flicker of a torch somewhere deep in the forest but nothing much happened and it was Harsk's turn to keep watch. On his watch she heard a rustle coming from the bushes on the other side of the road and she immediately roused her companions awake.
By the time the ambushers were getting to strike our heroes had already been awake and soon battle was joined. The bandits having lost the element of surprise found it hard to overcome our mighty heroes even though they outnumbered the party by 2. Seelah fought bravely with her longsword defending the rest of the party, Lirriane found herself in a disadvantageous position and was quickly surrounded by 3 of the bandits but thankfully her training allowed to fend off her attackers, Harsk shot volley after volley of arrows from afar using his wolf to harass the bandits on right flank and Hayato's armor and samurai training served him well on battlefield with none of the bandits able to land a blow on him. Eventually the ambushers were defeated and instead of fighting to the death the last 2 bandits surrendered promising to tell the party where the rest of their ne'er do well friends were hiding. To ensure that the 2 bandits were not misleading them by bringing them into a trap, Lirriane shot one of the bandits in cold blood. The last bandit named Milton then leads the party through the forest toward the main bandit camp.
Once at a good vantage point plan their next move and in true cold blooded fashion kill their captive, Milton the Bandit (Perhaps I should have forced an alignment change here but it was a one shot so whatever...). Harsk the Ranger volunteered to sneak in the camp as there was only a skeleton crew of sentries patrolling the camp, with great success he was able to find a loose part of the wooden rampart and snuck into the camp. Proceeding cautiously toward the biggest tent in the camp Harsk soon found a large cache of boxes and barrels and tried to look inside of them for Shinjo's sword but there was nothing but supplies and food in them. Tempting fate he bravely tip-toed his way into the large tent where he found the bandit leader sleeping but that wasn't his target and so he looked around some more and eventually found a Daisho set placed upon a mantelpiece, seeing that the sword had a intricate design and a Crane logo on it he then took the blade and snuck out of the camp with it successfully.
With the blade in tow, their quest was a success the only thing now was to return to Shinjo with the sword and get their reward. But not without leaving the bandits with a parting gift. Using the last of the alchemical fire the Gunslinger had, Lirriane threw it into the camp setting fire to one of the tents and causing major disarray among the ranks of the Bandits, the party watched a large part of the camp caught fire with panicking bandits scrambling to put out the fire. Now was a good time as any to leave and with the sun coming up the party departed to Saltspire post haste.
Once back in the city the party was well compensated for their efforts by Lord Shinjo, his family's honor was at last intact with the return of his brother's sword. The party bid their farewells and got ready to plan their next adventure...
THE END
Alright you guys there was my session report for the game I ran for KDU Board Game Session club, it was a fun game for the players most of whom had never experienced tabletop RPGs before. As this was meant as an intro to RPGs it was only a one shot but if interests are there I can be convinced to run a more episodic campaign for them, we will have to see. I will be running a second game for them in the coming week and if I'm not too lazy or busy perhaps I'll post up another session report. So until next time guys, see ya!
